Mat Walker is a lifelong motocross rider, with over three decades of experience behind him. At 40 years of age, Mat’s journey in the sport began as a young kid racing on local tracks, where he quickly established himself as a competitive force.

 

Through his teens and into his twenties, Mat consistently raced at A-Grade level, honing both his technical skills and passion for motocross.

After years on the side lines, Mat experienced a triumphant comeback in 2025, securing third place in the Victorian Titles in the Over-40 Veterans class. This result is a testament to his experience, resilience, and ongoing dedication to the sport.

Mat is also a devoted father to his two sons, Beau (6) and Jace (2), whom he has been training from an early age. Believing that confidence and control come first, Mat introduced them to riding on electric motorbikes (50cc) — machines he believes are ideal for beginner riders due to their smooth power delivery and easier handling. Under his guidance, the boys have developed strong fundamentals and a genuine love for riding.

Now, Mat channels his lifetime of knowledge into 474MX Academy coaching, where he helps young riders build confidence, improve technique, and start their own motocross journeys on the right track.
